Captain Pete Allen, pictured right, with Larry Jones, left, as they attempt to fix an islander’s outboard in northwest Mili Atoll.

Former Mieco Beach Yacht Club Commodore Pete Allen died of a heart attack on January 31 in Brunei, a day after sailing into the small nation on the island of Borneo.

The long-time cruiser spent many years in the Marshall Islands on his small catamaran French Kiss. While here, he visited many of the outer islands where he regularly used his skills to try and revive broken equipment.

His daughter Nicole posted on Facebook: “My father was an amazing and adventurous person. He really lived his life and died doing what he loved.”

  1. Such sad news, Karen. Pete was an extraordinary man. He will live on in so many hearts around the world. I think of him often, of diving and sailing, partying, adventuring.

  2. We are all gonna miss Pete. He was an amazing sailor that shared his knowledge with anyone who needed it. We at the Royal Belau Yacht Club enjoyed Pete’s company and his Catamaran Sailboat French Kiss. Sail on Pete in the skies above.
